Perhaps she is simply off having adventures of its own...

She likes to teach these games to the rest of Rin's Pokemon and she always seems to lose, but doesn't mind at all. If Rin is perceptive, she might get the impression Lala loses on purpose.

When he's actually awake or active or whatever state of being rock plants consider awake, he eats ravenously to sustain his energy for his next long sleep. Someone should probably get him an alarm clock...
